320,000 people were recorded as homeless in Britain in 2018, according to the charity Shelter.

It’s a crisis of mammoth proportions and is caused by a myriad of social problems including spiralling rents, welfare cuts and a total lack of social housing.

Bristol is one of the worst affected cities, with over 2,000 homeless people recorded – but there’s a unique new organisation that are trying to tackle the problem.

Help Bristol’s Homeless is the brainchild of Jasper Thompson, and they believe that having a home is not an entitlement, it is a right.

Along with his team, he's developed a site in Bristol with around 20 shipping containers, converted into self-contained studio flats, providing temporary accommodation until a service user can find a more permanent home, all while offering skills workshops and employment support.

Ecotricity has funded the development of one of the flats and has been working with the charity to explore the possibility of installing renewables and supplying green energy at their upcoming new site on Spring Street.
