Refer a friend terms and conditions
These terms and conditions relate to our Refer A Friend promotion (the ‘Promotion’), and apply in addition to the Ecotricity Limited (Ecotricity) Domestic Supply Terms and Conditions available on Ecotricity's website (the ‘General Terms’). Any capitalised words in these terms and conditions are defined in the General Terms unless defined below.
Under the Promotion, Ecotricity domestic energy supply customers (‘Referring Customers’) can refer as many people as they like to receive an energy supply from Ecotricity. Every new domestic energy customer (‘Referee’) who Switches to Ecotricity using a Referring Customer’s unique referral link or code (a ‘Referral’) and the Referring Customer who refers them will receive an incentive as set out below (the ‘Reward/s’). Referral codes can be found in the Ecotricity newsletter sent by email to existing customers.
For each eligible Switch, the Referring Customer and Referee shall each receive:
£25 Reward where the Referee enters into a contract for the supply of energy on Ecotricity’s Green Variable Tariff; or
£10 Reward where the Referee enters into a contract for the supply of energy on Ecotricity’s Fixed Tariff or pay as you go Tariff.
Promotion Terms and Conditions:
1. The Promotion can be claimed from 19 February 2026 (‘the Promotion Start Date’) until the Promotion end date.
2. The Promotion end date and/or any changes to these terms and conditions will be published on our website www.ecotricity.co.uk/refer-a-friend. Ecotricity will honour each Referral that complied with these terms and conditions and was received before the Promotion end date.
3. Eligible tariffs are as referred to above: Ecotricity’s Green Variable Tariff, Fixed Tariff, or Pay-As-You-Go Tariff. Referees must Switch to an eligible tariff in order for the Referring Customer and Referee to qualify for Rewards. Ecotricity reserves the right to add or remove eligible tariffs at its sole discretion.
4. The Referring Customer and the Referee(s) will receive their Rewards within 28 days of the Referee’s Supply start date.
5. Rewards will take the following form:
(a) Credit to the value of the applicable Reward to the Referring Customer and Referee’s respective energy accounts; or
(b) If the Referring Customer or the Referee have a credit meter, credit to the value stated above to their energy account; or
(c) If the Referring Customer or the Referee have a pay as you go meter, a John Lewis voucher in the value specified above, sent to the eligible party’s supply address.
6. There is no cash or voucher alternative available in place of the Reward stated for each eligible Switch. Rewards are non-negotiable and non-transferable.
7. The Promotion is open to applicants who are:
(a) UK residents, aged 18 and over;
(b) have a residential address in mainland UK (exc. N. Ireland, Isle of Man and the Channel Islands);
(c) applying for the supply of electricity and/ or gas from Ecotricity;
(d) Switching to one of the eligible tariffs stated above via a valid unique referral link or code that is shared by a Referring Customer or phoning 0808 123 0 123 quoting the unique referral link or code received from the Referring Customer.
8. The Referring Customer and the Referee will not be eligible to claim a Reward if any of the below applies;
(a) The Referee (or the Referee’s existing supplier) cancels an eligible Switch within 14 days;
(b) The Referee is Switching to receive an energy supply from Ecotricity but will be billed on our Out of Contract Tariff;
(c) Either the Referring Customer or the Referee is an employee of Ecotricity;
(d) Ecotricity is unable, for any reason, to accept the Switch, or to provide the supply of energy to the Referee’s property;
(e) The Referee has previously Switched to Ecotricity to claim another offer and then Switched away from Ecotricity in the 12 months before the date of their new application for a Switch under this Promotion, save that existing Ecotricity customers on an Out of Contract Tariff shall be eligible Referees if they switch to an eligible tariff following Referral by a Referring Customer;
(f) Either party is claiming another offer in conjunction with the Promotion;
(g) The Promotion is not displayed on the Ecotricity website at the date of the Referee’s Switch application;
(h) The Referee does not meet the application criteria for a Supply contract in accordance with the General Terms;
(i) The eligible party cancels or terminates their Supply contract with us before receiving their Reward, save that where you have moved onto an Out of Contract Tariff at the end of your existing tariff, you will still be eligible for the Reward.
(j) The Laws of England & Wales govern this Promotion. If any entrants to this Promotion wish to take court proceedings, then they must do this within the courts in the United Kingdom.
