Am I eligible for EcoFlex?
To qualify for early access, you must:
Be an existing Ecotricity SET customer with an online account
Have your import and export tariff at the same property
Own a Fox ESS or GivEnergy battery with a capacity of at least 5kWh
Have an iPhone or Android smartphone with the latest OS
Pay by DDV (Variable Direct Debit) only
Consent to half-hourly meter readings
Not be planning to move home in the next three months.

How does it work?
EcoFlex is our new dynamic tariff and app that enables you to automatically sell and buy energy at the most profitable times, maximising the value of your home solar and battery.
EcoFlex learns your household energy patterns and tracks wholesale prices to find the best times to sell your excess green energy to the grid.
It charges your battery from the grid when prices are low, typically overnight.
You can take manual control at any time to charge or discharge your battery and buy or sell energy, as long as Smartshift automation is enabled.
EcoFlex FAQs
With the EcoFlex dynamic tariff, you get direct access to wholesale electricity prices, similar to how energy suppliers buy and sell electricity.
Wholesale prices for buying and selling electricity update every 30 minutes.
This means you’re not tied to a fixed price and can adjust your energy use throughout the day to take advantage of lower costs and better export opportunities.
Your EcoFlex bill will consist of your electricity charges for the month (how much you need to pay) and your Export credits (how much you’ve been paid for the solar energy you've generated)
Your total amount owed for the month will be the electricity charges and export credits on your EcoFlex bill, plus any amounts owed or credited from previous EcoFlex bills. A negative balance means that you are in credit.
Your bill will also include a subscription fee of £13.49.
There’s no charge to switch to a different tariff if you decide EcoFlex isn’t right for you.
EcoFlex has a Battery Booster mode that limits battery cycles to 1.3 per day and an Earnings Optimiser mode that allows up to 2.0 battery discharge cycles per day. Check your battery documentation or contact your battery manufacturer if you have any concerns about this level of activity.

Important information
We’re really excited about the potential for EcoFlex to lower costs for our customers and make more green energy available on the grid. For the Beta phase, please note:
EcoFlex uses wholesale market prices, which may be subject to fluctuations.
EcoFlex will show as a new account in your Ecotricity online account and app.
Your EcoFlex bill will be available in your Ecotricity online account and app.
The EcoFlex smart app will be a separate app from existing Ecotricity apps.
You’ll need to agree to give us at least three months’ notice if your circumstances change, e.g. moving home.
Some parts of your online account will be locked as part of EcoFlex, so you’ll need to call or email us for activities such as home moves, tariff changes or meter read consent.
We’ll ask you to send us details of your battery’s brand and size.
