Swaffham Extension - Refused at committee
6th March 2008
Our application for six turbines at Swaffham was refused by Breckland's development control committee on December 17th 2007 because of concerns raised by the MOD.
The UK urgently needs to change where our energy comes from. And... the planning officer agrees with us.
In his report to the committee the officer wrote "There is no doubt that if this proposal is permitted it would bring with it significant environmental benefits, clean electricity from a renewable source would be provided for up to 9,500 homes."
The plan is to build an additional six state-of-the-art wind turbines at the site which will increase Swaffham's total wind-generating capacity to over 15MW, enough clean green energy to power around 11,000 homes.
Unfortunately it's a watch-this-space for this one.
